1. Make a splash

Why does Richard always get attention? He commands respect wherever he goes because he has a dramatic way of giving his news. Once, to promote the Virgin Atlantic Airways, he stepped off a chopper in full hockey gear, laced up his skates and took to the Harbourfront Centre ice to take shots on a cardboard net-minder dressed in a mock Air Canada uniform.

2. Play up to your audience

Richard always tries to show he understands a little bit about the culture of that country and what will work there.

3. Give great photo ops

Richard provies more than one chance for photographers to capture him on film, remembering that action shots generate more interest. Consider the opportunities Richard offered beyond the stardard CEO-on-podium shot: a helicopter landing, lacing up skates; shooting on goal, etc... And no matter where Richard posed, a Virgin logo was prominent.

4. Be approachable

Press-hungry CEOs should take the opportunity to chat and mingle. Richard demonstrates his willingness to speak with anyone, signing autographs and accepting gifts from admirers.

5. Brand, brand, brand...

Pay attention to all details that might be associated with your company. During the same event held in Canada, Richard was particular about the Virgin Atlantic jerseys and colour-coordinated socks the hockey team wore. His helicopter was even repainted when it was found to be the wrong shade of red. There is pure, singular message:Virgin.

6. Love the media

Anticipate the media's technical needs and think of ways to help them tell their story. Offer TV crews 3 different vantage points so their broadcasts don't all appear alike.

7. Have Fun

During the same event, after 40 mins of outdoor fun, Richard moved inside to deliver his announcement. Virgin maintained the excitement and energy of the earlier shenanigans with a press conference featuring dancing firls, cannons and video clips from the airline's humorous and campaign, which had even jaded media-types laughing. Show your audience a good time and they might even put you on the front page.

8 Be socially responsible

People in general respect a person who does something more with his money than just buy extravagant gifts for himself and those around him. Philanthropists like Branson and Bill Gates garner the respect that they do around the world because they also care about and work towards improving the communities around them. They do a lot of charity work and fund numerous social projects. eg. Branson heads up the Virgin Foundation which is dedicated to fighting malaria, AIDS and TB worldwide.

中午到代售点买了四张动车组车票，二等舱每张86元。手续费5元，返程手续费10元每张票。晚上在网上找了家家庭旅馆，打电话确认，订了一个标准间60元/晚，接站3元一个人。

周日早上睡醒发现9点半了，赶紧收拾东西向北京站进军。到了北京站已经中午12了，火车12：10发车， 急啊…… 结果进站后发现火车晚点了。第一次听说始发站火车也会晚点.

经过1个半小时行程到达北戴河火车站，出了站，旅馆的人已经举着牌等候着了。跟着他上了一辆大巴，发现整辆车都是各家家庭旅馆的客人。大概20分钟到达旅馆。旅馆不算豪华，但是比较干净，有一张大床一张小床，有电视，有独立的卫生间，可以洗澡。放好东西，拿上泳镜就直奔沙滩。我们住的旅馆算是比较远的，走到沙滩要15分钟左右。海边现在修得很好，有沿海的步行道，沙滩也很干净。由于以前过度捕捞，现在禁捕，所以海水也比较干净了。

北戴河吃饭很便宜，可以自己到海鲜市场买点海鲜拿到小饭店花5块钱加工。如果只是蒸着吃，找旅馆的主人给弄一下就好。吃完晚饭可以去逛逛夜市，东西不比南戴河得多，不过也没什么值得买的，所以看看好了。在离海边不远的地方有一个挺大的超市，东西比较全，价格也还行。唯一比较贵的就是酸奶，比北京贵3、4块。不过吃完海鲜喝点酸奶还是好的，有助于消化。可以租辆自行车顺着河滨公路往东走。这边有很多机关的疗养院，环境都很好。

玩了3天，吃海鲜都吃腻了，看来该回家了。本想走时带点海鲜走，可是实在懒得拿。打车去火车站，可以跟他们砍价。一般都要20，碰上顺路回火车站附近的15也有人走的。火车站动车候车室是露天的，比较热。去得早可以先到普通候车室坐会儿，快到点了再去动车候车室。火车站的厕所不建议使用，比较脏。经过1个半小时又回到了北京……
